Senior Consultant

Consultant Position Description:

First Quartile Consulting is looking for qualified business analysts/consultants with experience in the area of consulting and business analysis, with some exposure or strong interest in working with utilities (electric, gas, water). The position will become an integral part of our consulting team and will focus on supporting our client consulting engagements and benchmarking programs, as help in growing our infrastructure and firm:

1QC has client needs that require supporting client engagements in the form of leading and managing our utility client/consultant work teams, developing and managing client relationships, and conducting and supporting analysis and implementation efforts. This work does entail travel to our client sites.
1QC benchmarks operational and customer service performance in the utility industry. Each year we conduct several benchmarking programs where we benchmark utility performance and conduct research in interest areas for our clients (usually larger Investor Owned Utilities, like Dominion, BG&E, PSE&G etc.). 1QC has needs in this area that require supporting and eventually leading in the development and delivery of these programs (Customer Service, Transmission and Distribution), data analysis, related primary and secondary research, and developing and making presentations to our senior utility clients. We also do more technical work in the areas of Power Transmission, Distribution, etc. as well as Regulatory analysis so suitable backgrounds to meet these needs are very welcome.

Qualifications & Experience:

Graduate degree (i.e., MBA, ME etc.) in business, finance, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline is required.
Prior consulting experience (+2 years) and/or work in the public utility sector is very helpful but not a must for application
Ability to work effectively in a smaller, dynamic team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong process and facilitation skills
Experience with strategy and business process application in consultant-client settings
Experience with leading and managing work teams in business analysis and implementation of results
Flexibility to travel as needed (United States and Canada)

Location Requirements

Our team is located in Bethesda, Maryland and in the greater Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.
The position would best be suited near these locations, with a preference toward either Bethesda or Los Angeles, however there is flexibility with this regard
Client work as appropriate could entail travel in the United States and Canada.
